Two More Days...

... until Mysteries of Westgate is released. At least, that's the plan. I've heard nothing to suggest otherwise, so I think this time it's for real.

Initial reviews have been promising. The game scored 8.6/10 from the Neverwinter Vault, 5/5 stars from the Thieves' Guild, and 85% in Croatian magazine Gameplay. PC Gamer veteran Desslock also spoke it about it favourably, and Games for Windows said it was as worthy of attention as Mask of the Betrayer. That's not a bad assortment of praise. All factors considered -- budget, delay, status as Ossian's first commercially-released game -- I think we've done well.

Fingers crossed for Wednesday.

Given what you were saying in your other post - specifically about poor sales of MoW sounding the death toll for NWN2, what is your feel for the alternative outcome? Should (fingers crossed) MoW do well, does Atari have the will/resources to support a continuing Adventure Pack programme? Competition to Ossian aside, is there scope for other groups to come in and offer more packs - and does Atari have an interest in seeing this happen?
Interested to take your perspective on that

Wyrin – My hope is that MoW will show Atari that NWN2 is still profitable and therefore still worth investing in. The sales of SoZ were unfortunately not quite what they'd hope – of course, there are several very good reasons for that, which I'm not going into out of a desire to avoid offending any potential parties involved.

I'm sure Atari would have an interest in future products if they see a nice healthy profit from MoW. What the chances of that are, I'm not sure. My suspicion is that they've underestimated how many MoW sell, but I'm not sure how much the delay and latest DRM fiasco will muddy the waters.

As far as other groups go, I don't know. Any potential that exists at all would hinge on MoW doing well, I would assume.

Liso – I read it. Nice post!

Interesting.

I had a feeling SoZ flopped, I never even picked it up. It looked like something you get from the Vault.

Lets hope NWN 2 isn't dead yet for more adventure packs.
